History

Although definite records are not available prior to Franklin High School burning in the early 1950's, there are existing pictures of the Franklin High School Band in parades as early as 1945.  In 1948, the band was reorganized with 12 members (11 players and one majorette).  David Aydelott is the 12th director of record for the band including several distinguished directors who went on to direct in the collegiate ranks (Bill Swor- Louisiana State University, Wayne Pegram- University of Tennessee and Tennessee Tech).  The FHS Band is rich in tradition and excellence scoring predominantly superior ratings at marching competitions over the past 40 years.  The Marching Rebels have made appearances in the Orange Bowl Parade, The Tournament of Roses Parade, The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, The St. Louis St. Patrick's Day Parade, The Hollywood Christmas Parade, and The Tangerine Bowl.  The band also appeared in the Academy Award winning movie "Nashville."
